If like me, you installed Windows 7 and Acronis disk director only to find out that your PC is rendered unbootable, follow these directions: Symptom: Windows 7 fails to boot, gives you a brief Vista boot screen, goes into boot recovery mode and fails to recover. Solution: 1- Boot with your Windows 7 boot disk. Select your language and click repair your computer. 2- Select Windows 7 in System Recovery Options 3- Select Startup Repair Your PC is now bootable. Note: I tried doing the same procedure from the emergency W7 that is booted after the failure. You must boot from the installation CD for this to work. I'm a 73 year old engineer; this might not sound too good from a computer skill viewpoint, but it gets worse. I'm building. Software I have 3 drives in my PC - the largest of which I'd recently copied the contents of a smaller drive over to (8 partitions). This also held my old copy of XP as my backup OS.
Since moving everything it wouldn't work, so I decided to reinstall XP today, but even after doing so it still wouldn't run. Hardware & Devices I'm considering buying this upgrade, because I liked version 10 on XP. Unfortunately, that is not compatible with W7. Two questions comes to mind.1. Will it be installed totally separate from the previous version, or must the old version be used also? Does this truly work as well on W7 x64.
