If possible, I suggest you play WA instead, since it runs on the same engine as W2 and can do everything W2 can do and more with the help of RubberWorm (WormKit module), plus has fixes for bugs like this. Here's the situation. There are 3 games in the Worms 2 generation: Worms 2, Worms Armageddon, and Worms World Party. They all run on the same engine with the same (or very similar) graphics, weapons, etc. They all have interesting differences, but the only one which has been continually developed since its release is Worms Armageddon. The menu in Worms World Party is really slow for me for some reason, which is odd as it's the newer of the games. Worms Armageddon seems to work fine after I updated it, but I've not played it properly since installing it yet. I wanted to play Worms 2 too because of the amount of customisation that the other games lack, so wanted to be able to play all of them. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but had no effect. If you have multiple optical drives, place the disc in the drive with the earliest letter. So if you have Drive D and E as optical drives, insert disc in Drive D.
That also solves the problem if you're not hearing the CDDA music tracks. You can change the drive letters in the Windows Disk Management.
